- On July 18th, the trust “ARKTIKMORNEFTEGAZRAZVEDKA” was founded (an Order No. 91 of the Ministry of the USSR Gas Industry).

-1981 - On the basis of the transport vessel “Sevastopol” the first offshore ice drilling platform was constructed.  The first wells were drilled at the mouth of the Pechora river.

- AMNGR underwent a period of development: special facilities, equipment and    sea-going vessels are acquired . AMNGR’s Vocational Training School trains local personnel for working on offshore oil and gas fields.

- The drilling ships “Viktor Muravlenko” and “Valentin Shashin” started the drilling operations in the Barents Sea. The Murmanskoye and Severo-Kildinskoye gas fields were discovered, the scientists’ predictions of the high oil and gas perspectives of the Russian Arctic shelf were confirmed. The drilling of exploratory wells started on the Kolguev island.

-Offshore explorations works were conducted at the same time with a shore base forming in Murmansk in order to develop the discovered fields.

- The fleet was replenished with two floating drilling rigs - jack-up “Kolskaya” and semisubmersible drilling rig “Shelf-4”.

- The Severo-Gulyaevskoye gas condensate field was discovered. On August 30th,
the trust was reorganized into the Production Association “Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka”.

- The first  gas condensate field  was discovered in the Kara Sea. The first produced  oil was shipped by tanker from the Kolguev island.

-1989 - Discovery of the Shtockmanovskoye gas condensate field in the Barents Sea, an unique one by its reserves, made world-wide sensation. Prirazlomnaya well No.1 in the Pechora Sea yielded about 400 tonns of oil per day.

- The jack-up drilling rig “Kolskaya” started drilling on the shelf of the North Sea - AMNGR had been acquiring experience abroad.

-1995 - AMNGR’s vessels work in the offshore areas of the Western Europe, Asia and South America.  On July 29th, 1995 the Association has got a new status:  State Enterprise - Company “Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka”.

-1998 - The Joint Venture “Arctic Drilling” was established. The upgraded drilling ship “Viktor Muravlenko” commenced the drilling operations in deep waters on the Brazilian shelf.   Since June 24th SEC “Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka” has been registered as State Unitary Enterprise.

- The drilling rigs, transport vessels and passenger ships work under short and long- term contracts. The jack-up drilling rig “Murmanskaya” is being prepared for the next drilling season.

- The state licenses for the right to use subsurface mineral resources on Pomorskoye, Kolokolmorskoye and Medyn-Varandey sites in the Barents Sea opened the new perspectives for further development of the enterprise and oil and gas complex of the region in the whole.

- The first parametric well with the depth of 4417 m was drilled by Jack-up “Murmanskaya” on the Arctic shelf of the Pechora Sea on Pakhancheskaya structure.  For the first time Silurian deposits were revealed and their oil-bearing was confirmed.

- Drilling of the prospecting well with the projected depth of 3400 m on Medynskoye field in the Pechora Sea.
